Floor Mats - Product Testing Specifications
Product Testing

Commercial Carpet
Product Testing

All NOTRAX® and AKRO® Floor Matting Products are subject to rigorous testing by independent laboratories prior to their introduction to the market. All NOTRAX® and AKRO® carpet products passed the Flammability Test (Pill Test DOC FF1-70).

Water Retention - Designed to simulate the moisture retention of an entrance mat in actual usage. Test are reported in gallons per square yard. Our Product Testing Chart shows a relative comparison of this moisture capacity between the NOTRAX®/AKRO® mats. The higher the number, the greater amount of moisture that can be contained within the mat.Accelerated Wear Test (S.I.M. Floor Machine)

Designed to simulate the wear an entrance mat will receive under normal foot traffic. The results show the relative wear and crush resistance of the mat, and are listed as either a "1" which is severe crushing and loss of texture/thickness, a "2" which is a noticeable wear pattern or crushing, and a "3" which is only a slight or negligible change. The higher the number, the greater it's resistance to wear and crushing.Accelerated Soiling Test (ASTM D6540)

Designed to simulate the soiling that occurs from foot traffic/floor service in normal use as an entrance mat. The results are shown as either a "1" denoting heavy or considerable soiling, a "2" which is a noticeable or slight change, and a "3" which is negligible or no change at all. The higher the number, the greater it's resistance to soiling.

Industrial
Product Testing

All NOTRAX® and AKRO® Floor Matting Products are subject to rigorous testing by independent laboratories prior to their introduction to the market. Abrasion Resistance (ASTM D3884-92)

This is an accelerated wear test, where the results are expressed in total weight loss of material when subjected to 5,000 cycles under an abrasion wheel. Again, the rating in our charts is a relative comparison between all products in this category. The greater the number, the greater the resistance to wear.Compression Deflection (ASTM D3574)

This test assesses the anti-fatigue properties of industrial mats. The original thickness of the mat is first measured without load. Then a compression load of 40 lbs. per square inch (PSI) is applied and the thickness under this load is measured. When the difference between the two measurements is larger than another mat (i.e. it's "deflection"), the greater the anti-fatigue properties of that mat. A higher rating in our chart designates a greater deflection value and therefore anti-fatigue property versus other mats.Coefficient of Friction (ASTM C 1028-89) designed to assess the slip resistance of our matting, the test measures the force required to cause slippage of a 50 lb. load across the surface material. The coefficient is the ratio of force required divided by the weight. The greater the coefficient of friction ratio, the better the slip resistance is of the mat. The 1-2- 3 rating in our chart puts the higher coefficient of friction ratios as a "3" and the lowest as a "1".

Matting Icons

Outdoor Use:
Heavy-duty construction designed to act as a first line of defense against tracked-in dirt by scraping, soil and moisture from shoes.
Custom Lengths:
Mats available in customs lengths.
Logo Friendly:
Matting best suited to receive flocked logo materials.
Food Service:
Matting suitable for use in kitchens, bars and other food service areas where durability, grease resistance and drainage are a priority.
Ergonomic/Anti-Fatigue:
Matting that alleviates foot pressure, stimulates blood circulation and helps reduce stress on the lower back, leg joints and other major muscle groups.
Drainage/Wet Areas:
Open construction
allows for moisture to pass through, providing secure footing in a wet environment.
Anti-Slip:
Matting designed to provide added traction through aggressive surface patterns and textures.
Welding:
Made of durable rubber compounds, these mats can be used in areas where welding takes place.

Dyna-Shield™

The Next Generation of Sponge Matting
- Dyna-Shield™

The next generation of sponge matting is made of a newly formulated compound with Dyna-Shield™, and revolutionary process perfected by Superior Manufacturing Group that creates a protective layer on the sponge surface. Dyna-Shield™ is a tough barrier that is more resistant to wear than traditional sponge matting. In addition to the longer life from this greater wear resistance, the Dyna-Shield™ mats also outperform the others in tear resistance and tensile strength capabilities! The result is an incredibly durable top surface that provides unmatched traction for the worker and further enhances the anti-fatigue comfort of the mat.

Dyna-Shield™ is included on these designs of our PVC sponge mats: Pebble Step Sof-Tred™, Diamond Sof-Tred™, NEW Razorback™, NEW Blade Runner™ and NEW Bubble Sof-Tred™.
